the villains in all the great stories always had high-back chairs; christian lestrange would not defy that. one night, the chill air of rainy london filled his office, as he sat in wait. there was a problem- something that had caught his notice. he was the minister of magic; of course he had his eyes and ears everywhere. but it was more than that- he had his rebellion. the eyes and ears of every single member, everyone wanting to go back to voldemort's dark ways... except better. christian would bring them that reality. with their faith in him, they offered up everything they knew, even if it meant betraying one of their own.
the knock at the door was gentle; barely loud enough to be noticed. it was a sign more than anything else, more than common courtesy. the sign was well received, and a sinister little smile met the older man's face. he smiled, before raising his voice. "yes, come in."
two girls, and a boy. the girls appeared to be nothing special- they lurked in the darkness of the hallway, even as the boy walked in. in the center of the room, touched by the firelight, his appearance was revealed- more than a boy, but a man, muscled and strong, who had pledged his alliance to christian many years before. he was tyler smith; bold, handsome, intelligent, and a former slytherin. the makings of a perfect follower. in fact, tyler had made himself so useful and so known to christian that he was in a very high place of power within the death eaters; just behind two people. christian, and scorpius malfoy; but his cousin wasn't looking like too much of a threat as-of-late.
christian motioned for tyler to sit down, and he did. tyler had always been a wonderful aid to christian; along with the young man and his niece, he was sure that their most recent plan would not fall through like the past few. "i trust everything is in place?" tyler nodded, and stayed quiet for a moment, as he seemed to consider what to say next. "the girls escorted me to the location, and i secured that everything was properly in place." tyler stopped, but christian didn't seem quiet satisfied, so he tried again. "everything is ready for when you choose to go through with your plan, minister lestrange." a smile curled upon christian's lips, and tyler knew that had been what he had wanted to hear. "unfortunately, your nieces have followed him again, and he was meeting up with that girl."
that was a disappointment for christian to hear; scorpius was his right hand man, and a very good one at that. he had shown all the promises of being a great successor, not only to the reign of dark terror that christian planned on starting, but to his role as minister of magic after he was gone. not only was he a pureblood who had belonged to the great and wonderful house of salazar slytherin, but he was a malfoy. it was such a shame to see the boy hanging out with creatures as filthy in blood as the potter girl. the older man's fingers tapped along the side of the armchair as he thought. they couldn't afford any cracks in their system- any problems at all, and they could be ruined. they couldn't afford to have a traitor, especially one so high up in the chain of command. he couldn't just drop scorpius, he needed to... test him. looking away from the curling orange flames of the fire, he turned his gaze to the giggling girls standing in the shadows. "girls, come here, i have a job for you."
a job for them; and a test for scorpius malfoy.

lily potter didn't cry. it was a rule; it wasn't something she had done. how many times had she ever done it? about... five, maybe. the time she fell off her broomstick, and some times when she was a baby. that's all she could think of- but now the tears were pouring down her cheeks. no mother or father nearby to hold her; no brothers to tell her it would all be okay. not to mention that her favorite cousin had been up and stolen; louis was... gone. suddenly. he'd been happy, he'd been good; he'd been back with camille, they'd been all cute, and they'd been all happy. what had happened? he hadn't gone off on his own, she knew it. not only did she feel it deep within her soul that louis wouldn't have just left like that, but he couldn't have; even a weasley couldn't pull a disappearing act over night.
her parent's arms weren't there to comfort her, so instead, she found someone else's. and even when she did, she couldn't stop apologizing for it. "oh s-s-scor. i'm s-s-sorry for being a b-burden. you shouldn't have to see me like t-t-this." why should he? they hadn't been friends for long, and when even her favorite cousins had never seen her shed a tear, why should he? scorpius didn't mind- he felt guilty for what had happened. he was sure it had something to do with him... with how christian and tyler had been giving him strange looks all the time, and the way those annoying yaxley girls had always burst into giggles whenever he came around. "it's okay, lily, don't worry." he whispered, kissing the top of her hair as he ran a comforting hand up and down her back. "everything will work itself out, trust me."

the hodgepodge of voices in the room were a mixture of anger, sadness, and fear. there was only one subject to be talked about tonight: their acting commander was gone. since the days of their parents and grandparents, the order of the phoenix had become increasingly disorganized. it seemed like exactly what it was; a rebellious group run by a bunch of children. but lately, they haven't had anything to do. they figured they would, eventually- some nimrod had the brilliant idea to place a lestrange in the position of minister. they thought, of course, bad things would happen. but they had never quite thought that their leader would be kidnapped in the dead of night; why should they? it just wasn't something they had thought of...
anthony finnigan was stepping up with their lack of leader. it wasn't that no one else would; most people would love to take over louis' place. but everyone was still angry, or sad, or scared; tony was the first to recover. he figured that someone had to be level-headed. he'd gotten them all to shut up- by screaming at them "shut up, the lot of you!" it had worked. now, everyone was watching him as he paced along the room, before stopping at the end of the table to put his hand on his youngest sister's shoulder. "so we don't know what's going on, but we're ready to assume louis was kidnapped." and louis better hope that was the case; because if tony found out that louis had just up and left his baby sister without a good reason, like being kidnapped, louis would have more to worry about than death eaters. "i think it should be obvious how they found out who he was." by the quiet, confused air about the place, he guessed he was the first to realize it. "come on, people! it's obviously that letch whose been hanging around the kid... that bastard malfoy is obviously using lily to get to us." and, at once, a lightbulb seemed to flash to life above everyones heads. "we need to do something... and now."
